like the time we were white water rafting down a river in Bali, and then we all jumped out and started floating down the river (this is all 6 of us amazing exchangees; adrien, chloe, me, kelsey, sarah, and mariana) and i said, "This is like one of those times when we float down the river!...." and kelsey goes, "RIGHT! like this happens all the time, sinikka!"
or the time that we realized that chloe loves to pluck her leg hair as a hobby,
or when us girls were giving massages, and i exchanged a massage with adrien for belgium chocolate.
each hotel that we went to got better and better, until we were staying two nights at a 4 star hotel.
i actually learned what "masuk angin" is. becuase of the humidity in indonesia, you cannot sleep outside on top of boats, because you will get cold, sick, get a fever of 99 F, and then feel completely dead sore, and have to go to the doctors twice.
we were away for 2 weeks, and after 2 weeks. we broke down on the last night, becuase all of us were so close- with each other the entire time, trying to sneak out at points and sitting on the beach in darkness, laughing with each other.
Day ONE:
Arrive in Bali, hang out at restaurant waiting for Kelsey and Adrien, then went swimming, left at 4pm for Kecak Dance with monkeys, then had dinner in Jimbaran. Then came back and stopped before the hotel to buy drinks, and then went to the beach. Then evil plans to sneak out. Then Kelsey, adrien, and I stayed back in the end. Kelsey had bad experience with coffee, I had a sweet banana milkshake. Sarah kissed a Nowegian boy named Thomas.
Day TWO:
Wake up early~ super early to skype Alan with the beach in the background. Went to hindu temples, first to the good and evil dance with the barong, Kelsey did not feel good- didn’t eat a lot. Went to lunch, with the rice fields, I ate papaya. Went to more temples. The traditional court where we did the chess board. Went to the hotel in Ubud, walked 20minutes to find Pizza Bagus, then came back and went to sleep early.
Day THREE:
Woke up early to skype Alan again, went to temple in the morning after a great beautiful breakfast. Where there was meditation where we made black and white pictures, got caught in the rain, Kelsey got her sneakers wet. Then went to the purification one that was active, and then lunch in front of the volcano and tried to bargain bali shirts. Then we went to ride the elephants in the rain, and got cuddled by them. Then back to the hotel and then went to the warung place close to the hotel where Pak Wasito met up, then went to circle k- and I stayed to skype my mom, and then they swam at night…
Day FOUR:
Went to classic centre right away, I woke up early again to tALK WITH GOD< learned the dance, learn how to make the hindu offering place, we met Sony, ate lunch there too watching the dances. Then we saw all the little clay figures. That was the VIP dday, and tried to find the market afterwards. Then walked like 20 minutes again trying to find the market, then stopped at Starbucks and talked A LOT.. Then found the market, and bargained a lot. Then chloe and mariana found a good restaurant talked a LOT as well, where Kelsey’s coffee was acidic. Then to bed.
Day FIVE:
Check out from Ubud, then to white water rafting and we ate coconuts and saw the tropical bird and black monkey and then afterwards, we went to a temple that was in the water and then went to the waterfall and took pictures close to it. Then drove to lovina and checked in. they went to swim and then to dinner that had the dances where there were Australians and americans.
Day SIX:
Woke up early to go see the dolphins, then went back for breakfast that was decliious, checked out and then went to Kuta. Stopped to take pictures of rice fields, and then trekked learning about different trees, then we had lunch there and then to Tnaah Lot. Then went to Aneka hotel again, and then had gelato (blackberry yoghurt) then to the nasty restaurant where Mariana had bird poop salad. Then the rest went to circle k and broke things, while sarah and I bought the balibali shirt.
Day SEVEN:
Got plane to Lombok. Then went to see the villages, where they made the sarong clothes, and then went to the water palace and that’s when they told about kidnapping the brides in sasak culture. Girls don’t go to school but stay home and weave. then to the water palace where it rained so we didn’t stay long. And that was the only king of the eastern hindu kingdom of Lombok’s good place. Then checked in at Santosa hotel Senggigi, each hotel was getting better than the last, this one was four star. Then they went to bed and I had tons of God time. Then ate dinner at the Spanish restaurant and sarah stayed back because she wasn’t feeling good at all. Then to the market that was like Circle K again. Then to bed. Then I massaged adrien, and mariana.
Day EIGHT:
Woke up straight away, felt sick and asked Alan to help me throw up because it was too early to eat breakfast, but afterwards I was fine. Then went to make pottery, a turtle for alan and a toque for myself. Then we went straight to snorkeling, where we left the pottery in the back and then went to the island. It was in the south and not too good but it was a small grilled fish for lunch, super small, but we stayed there, having fun, and then went straight from there back to the hotel. That took a super long time and afterwards we went back to the Spanish restaurant and this time I went to buy a magnum afterwards, and bought the actual great burrito. Then we went straight to bed because we were tired.
Day NINE:
Wake up at the Santosa Hotel, eat breakfast, where Kelsey felt sick. Packed all of our things, with all my shells from yesterday and pottery included J Then headed out to ride a gondola down the crocodile river where we saw sand men, who were wading the dangerous to get the sand from the bottom of the river to sell. Ate coconuts, took pictures, and saw huge lizards in the water. Then went straight to snorkeling on Gili again, which took about 1.5 hours and we had to then take a boat, where Kesley, Sarah, and I tanned- to the actual island. On the island, we went straight to snorkeling- where we were stung my baby jellyfish- while I saw them, then made up stories about Gill, Dory, and finding Nemo, and then saw a sea turtle, danced, pet, and swam with it, and then almost blacked out when I ended up at the drop off. Afterwards, we ate lunch- tuna fish sandwich, and then went back out to tan and play in the water. Then met up with Kelsey, Mariana, and Chloe who went off the hotel, who met French boys, and after showering and discovering our beautiful hotel, which had hammocks outside, we went back out to find a cheap place to eat. The waiter was super funny, there was a strange Aussie who looked straight at me when I met his eyes by accident, and the meal of a Greek Salad and Banana milkshake cost 45,000. Afterwards, we went to find hot chocolate, while Kelsey and Sarah had some intense mint chocolate chip ice cream and a brownie. Then I tried to make the wifi at the hotel work, but instead talked to the American-like worker who was in charge of the Guest Relations, then went straight to bed. Where I had a horrible dream about a key, having to say sorry to Annie- who looked like Kelsey and Anna Lenski- and a house tipping, and wrong things happening. It was not good at all, and I’m pretty sure the evil one, ah bleh.
I don't remember the order, but we also saw komodo dragons, about 10 starfish in a row, we found nemo, gill, dory, and the fish that are all one- that are in finding nemo~ and good things happened throughout everything.
we realized that there are villages that only make clothing, and sell it, and other villages that are paid by the government to stay the same so that we can see the old traditional lifestyle. and it's interesting :)
we made masks, pottery, and memories with each other that will not be broken by distance, but will break us into tears when we remember.
Through my relationship with alan, i've realized that no distance is to far for a relationship or a friendship, and after God taught me that lesson- I was able to much easier, say goodbye, and was free to cry tears of fire :)
that have passion, true, and pure love in them. Yes, tears of fire.
This was the best part of indonesia, not the trip, but getting so close to Kelsey, Adrien, Mariana, chloe, and Sarah. becuase- they are all so beautiful. and we got so close, laughing at each other and with each other, discussing things with each other, and experiencing life together, that it broke us all to leave. knowing that it may be FOREVER until we all meet up again together.
the troop :)
i love you all guys. thank you for an amazing times.
more than this blog, look at pictures- because those speak 1,000 more words than I could for this Big Trip.
